Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis).
Rosemary (ct 18 Cineole) is present in every single one of TerraCure's creams. It is an absolutely awesome essential oil and one of my all time favorites! And for good reasons.
Here in Israel we mothers have always been acquainted with Rosemary essential oil as an oil that repels lice from kids' heads (ewww). But little did I know, as a young mother, that Rosemary is so much more! Here are some of the things Rosemary oil is good for:
- Mental Fatigue- increases circulation in the brain
- Painful muscles and joints – it promotes circulation and warmth.
- Respiratory congestion – Used in a cream with other respiratory oils on the back and chest it can help decongest.
- Can counteract symptoms of stress like depression and fatigue
- Hair loss and dandruff.
- Acne and skin regeneration
These applications result from Rosemary's many therapeutic properties. There are studies that show that Rosemary is an analgesic (relieves arthritic pain in rats); it is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial (useful for acne), antifungal and is an antioxidant.
In addition, Rosemary has been found to be antirheumatic – great for numb and cold joints, antispasmodic, is a wonderful circulatory stimulant and an expectorant – the 1.8 cineole type of Rosemary oil that TerraCure uses in our creams probably has expectorant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Besides all the above, Rosemary has traditionally been used to increase alertness, improve memory and increase joyfulness.
Rosemary blends very well with other herbal oils, especially Thyme which is found in all of TerraCure's creams and coniferous oils, such as Juniper Berry, which is present in TerraCure's Red Rub, and sharp-scented citruses, such as Lemon, Grapefruit, and Mandarin (Tangerine) which are present in Orange Ointment. This probably contributes to the absolutely fabulous natural scents TerraCure creams have.
There was a study done in 2017 at the University of Northubria, Newcastle, that showed that besides improving memory and alertness, when Rosemary was used together with Lavender essential oil (Our Blue Balm has both these oils), they produced a feeling of "contentment" in the volunteers.
Warning: Do not apply any rosemary chemotype to or near the face of infants or children under 5 years old. Use with caution for children between 5-10 years old.
If you are pregnant consult with your doctor before using rosemary.
