All About Essential Oils and Herbal Compounds

Essential oils have been in use since the creation of plants. References to essential oils can be found in the bible in two obvious examples: The holy incense that was burned in the Temple in Jerusalem and the holy anointing oil mentioned in the Book of Leviticus.

The holy incense (essential oil) was comprised of aromatic plants from all over the Land of Israel, which were ground together with "Sodom Salt" (Dead Sea salt) in order to generate "white smoke".

We also have the most famous oil - olive oil - which was manufactured in Tekoa, Israel and used in the Temple.

In order to understand the complexity of essential oils it is necessary to understand that a plant is actually an "ecology factory". The Creator gave us plants which take 0.03% CO2 and turn it into a chain of carbons, on one hand, and on the other hand turns it into oxygen. It is amazing to note that in a forest, if 75% of the trees are cut down, the remaining 25% manage to generate the same amount of oxygen that the 75% did!!

Every plant is an oxygen and food factory. It nourishes life. In order to understand essential oils it is necessary to look into plant life with immortal eyes and see the movement of nourishing matter through the veins and arteries of every plant.

Upon investigation we found that there are unique plants which have medicinal properties. In the past a large part of natural medicine was based on plants. We can even describe essential oils as the plant's lifeblood.

The production of essential oils has been done in the past in different ways. Today most extraction techniques are based on mixing ground healing herbs with soluble liquids such as oils, alcohol and certain solvents. For example, essential oil from citrus is produced by applying pressure to the peels of the fruits.

The research into essential oils has been ongoing for 5000 years and the pharmaceutical industry has grown from it. The main property of the essential oils is germ-fighting (killing live organisms). In the right doses essential oils can cure humans. It is interesting to note that during the Black Plague in Europe, people who dealt with essential oils were not killed.

It is not recommended to use essential oils without proper guidance because they contain very acid oils. For example, cinnamon oil is very high in acid and can burn the skin. There are many similar examples. Never touch an essential oil without first learning about it.

The specific properties of each essential oils is laid down in professional literature and it is highly recommended to read about essential oils before using them. We will describe here the properties of the various essential oils that TerraCure uses in its products.

Distillation of Essential Oils

In order to give you a basic understanding of how essential oils are created here is one of the most common processes: Distillation.

Most pure essential oils are extracted from plants through steam distillation. Freshly picked plants are placed on a rack over boiling water, and the steam coming from a vat underneath pulls the oils out of the plant. The steam rises, is captured in a vessel, and is pushed along tubing into a second vat. Then the steam is rapidly cooled, causing it to condense back into water. Since water and essential oils do not mix, the two separate, and the essential oil is collected.

Dead Sea Minerals Advantage

Historically, the Dead Sea used to span a much larger geographical area - from the top of the Sea of Galilee down till Eilat in southern Israel. Over the years the Dead Sea has become smaller, resulting in revealing uncovered, mineral-rich earth which is conducive to growing special produce. It is no secret that the vegetables and fruits which grow in the Jordan Valley (next to the Dead Sea) are especially robust and flavorful. This is a result of the high concentration of minerals in the earth there.

Special Synergy Between Essential Oils and Dead Sea Minerals

TerraCure has combined 26 minerals and Trace Elements from the Dead Sea with the "essential intelligence" of plants. This powerful combination increases the power of both the minerals and the essential oils. We produce our creams in a factory which has been working in this field for over 22 years. The minerals, which are the building blocks of the universe are connected to plant life which is the generator of life in order to bring us a set of unusual products. On your next trip to the Dead Sea, fill a bottle of Dead Sea water and put even one drop on your houseplants every now and then. See how it makes the plants thrive! It affects edible plants by increasing their ability to thrive and it improves their flavor dramatically.

TerraCure mixes all the plant extracts used in our products with Dead Sea Water, thereby creating natural "Vitaminerals" without any chemicals.

The TerraCure Advantage

TerraCure puts in its creams a mixture of vitamins and minerals which are powerful anti-oxidants, that aid the healing of inflammation in the body and increase moisture. The inflammation is often caused by free radical to which we are exposed in daily life. It is important to take anti-oxidants in the appropriate dose as too much can be harmful (i.e. Vitamins A and E). TerraCure's creams are formulated with just the right amount of plant extracts in Dead Sea water, mixed with natural moisturizers such as olive oil, jojoba oil and grape seed oil. This creates substantial added value to our creams. TerraCure's creams contain essential oils for herniated disc, essential oils for bulging disc pain and essential oils for plain old lower back pain!
